The bathroom plumbing jobs we take on
Taps. Replacing basin, bath or shower mixer taps, including checking the isolation valves and flexible connectors behind them, which are often the real source of a drip.
Toilets. Removing an old toilet and fitting a new close-coupled, back-to-wall or wall-hung pan, connecting the waste and supply and sealing it to the floor.
Basins and sinks. Swapping a pedestal basin for a vanity unit, or replacing a cracked basin, including the trap and waste.
Baths, trays and doors. Taking out an old bath, fitting a new one or a shower tray in its place, and hanging shower doors or screens.
Showers. Installing a new shower where the supply allows, or replacing an existing unit.
Why the pipework behind matters
Most small bathroom jobs are straightforward when the pipes behind are in good order. Where they are not, for example corroded valves, pushed-together fittings or a waste pipe laid without enough fall, it is better to deal with them while the fitting is off than to put a new tap or toilet on an old problem.
We will tell you what we find and give you the choice. Nothing extra is done without you agreeing to it first.
How to prepare for a plumbing visit
Know where your stopcock is and check it turns. It is usually under the kitchen sink, but in older homes it can be in a cupboard or under the stairs.
Have the new item on site if you are supplying it, and check the box before the day. A basin with the wrong tap holes or a toilet with the wrong outlet can stop the job.
Clear the area around the fitting and have somewhere for old items to go. We take away what we remove as part of the job.
When a small job should become a bigger one
If several things in the bathroom are near the end of their life, doing them one at a time can mean tiles being disturbed more than once. Swapping a bath for a shower tray, for example, almost always means re-tiling at least part of the wall.
In that case it can be more sensible to plan them together. Our renovation vs refit guide helps you decide how far to go.
From pipe to tile
Because we do both the plumbing and the tiling, a job that crosses from one to the other, such as a new shower valve set into a tiled wall, does not need two separate trades. That is what our slogan, From Pipe to Tile, We Do It All, means in practice.
Frequently asked questions
Will you come out just to change a tap?
Yes, tap changes are one of the basic plumbing jobs we do. It is worth mentioning any other small jobs at the same time so they can be done on one visit.
Do you do emergency plumbing or boilers?
No. We focus on bathroom fitting work: taps, toilets, basins, baths, shower trays, doors and showers. For an urgent leak, turn off the water at the stopcock and call an emergency plumber.
Can I supply my own toilet or basin?
Yes. Just check it suits the space and the existing pipe positions before the day, or send us the details and we can check for you.
Will fitting a new basin damage my tiles?
Sometimes the tiles behind an old basin are a different shade or have fixing holes. We will let you know if that is likely so you can plan for it.
How do I get a price?
Send us an enquiry with a photo of the fitting and what you want done. We will come back to you with the next step and a free quote.
