Decisions to lock in early
Sign off the suite, tiles, grout colour and taps before the strip-out. Late choices are the most common cause of a job stalling.
Confirm socket, shaver point, mirror and towel rail positions. Moving them after the walls are tiled is expensive.
Agree the shower valve height and the niche or shelf positions with us on the wall, in pencil, not over the phone.
Getting the house ready
Clear the bathroom and the route to it. Landings, stair corners and hallway furniture are where damage happens.
Empty the airing cupboard if it backs onto the bathroom wall, because that is often where the pipework is accessed.
Sort out where you will wash. Most clients use a second bathroom or a neighbour or family for a few days over the shower-out period.
Tell us about pets and anyone working from home so we can plan the noisy hours around it.
Access, deliveries and services
Confirm parking. If your street is permit controlled, arrange visitor permits before the start date.
Take delivery of the suite and tiles ahead of day one where possible, and check the tile batch matches across boxes.
Know where your stopcock and consumer unit are. We will ask on the first morning.
Let us know about narrow access, low door heads or a shared entrance so we bring the right van and stage materials in batches.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be at home during the fit?
No. Plenty of clients leave us a key. We agree access arrangements in advance and keep you updated with photos as the job progresses.
Should I order the tiles myself?
You can, and many people do. Order around ten per cent extra for cuts and breakages, and check every box is the same batch before we start.
Will my water be off all day?
No. Water is isolated only for short periods during first and second fix, and we tell you the morning it is happening.
Who clears the old suite away?
We do. Strip-out and waste removal are priced into the quote, so there is no skip surprise at the end.
What if I am not ready on the start date?
Tell us as early as you can and we will move the date. It is far better than starting a job that then sits half finished.
