Water and heating
Water is isolated for parts of day one and during first and second fix, not for the whole job.
We tell you the day before whenever a supply will be off, so you can fill what you need.
Heating is usually unaffected unless the towel rail sits on the main circuit, which we check at survey.
Toilets and washing
If there is a second toilet in the house, the job barely affects daily life.
If it is the only bathroom, we can often reinstate the toilet at the end of the day during parts of the job, and we will be clear at survey about the days that is not possible.
Some customers arrange a gym, a family member or a temporary unit for a small number of days. We tell you honestly how many those are.
Dust, noise and the rest of the house
Floors, stairs and doorways are protected, and dust control is set up before the first tile comes off.
The noisy stage is strip-out and cutting, concentrated early in the job.
We clear up at the end of each day rather than leaving the mess until the end of the week.
If it is your only bathroom
Plan for the days when the room has no working toilet or shower. Tell us at survey stage if it is the only bathroom so the sequence can keep the toilet connected for as long as possible and reconnect it as early as possible.
Keep a basin elsewhere in the house, such as the kitchen sink or a downstairs cloakroom, for washing and teeth during the middle of the job.
Frequently asked questions
Can I work from home during the fit?
Most people do. Tell us your call times and we will plan the loudest cutting around them where we can.
What about children and pets?
Tell us at survey. We keep the room sealed off, tools away and doors closed while we work.
Will I be without a toilet overnight?
We avoid that wherever the plumbing allows, and we tell you in advance about any day where it is unavoidable.
Is there a lot of dust during a bathroom renovation?
Strip-out and tile cutting create the most. Floors and stairs are protected and the work is contained to the bathroom, so the rest of the house stays usable.
