What a free bathroom quote from us actually includes

Searches for a free bathroom installation usually come from people wanting to know what they can get without paying. To be clear from the start: the installation itself is paid work. What is free is the survey visit and the fixed written quote that follows it, with no obligation to go ahead.

This guide explains what happens on that visit, what the quote covers, how long it takes to arrive, and what to have ready so the quote is as accurate as possible. For what a good quote should contain line by line, see our separate quote checklist.

What is free

The home survey. One of our team visits, measures the room, checks the floor, walls and pipework, and talks through what you want from the space. There is no charge for the visit and no charge for the quote.

The fixed written quote. You receive a written price including VAT for the work agreed. It is fixed, not a day rate, so you know the total before you commit. Our standard promise is free quote, no pressure and a fast response.

What is not free

The work itself, the products and any materials. Some firms advertise a free installation with the purchase of a suite, which usually means the fitting cost is built into the price of the goods. We price the job openly instead, so you can see what you are paying for.

What the written quote should name

Look for strip-out and waste removal, plumbing changes, floor preparation, waterproofing, tiling, fitting, electrical work and VAT as clear parts of the scope. The chosen products or agreed allowances should also be written down.

A single total with no specification is difficult to compare. The written scope should also state the expected duration and explain how any customer-requested change would be agreed before extra work begins.

What happens on the visit

We look at the room as it is: where the soil pipe and supplies run, whether the floor is solid, how the walls are built and whether there are signs of past leaks. Then we talk about how you use the room and what you would change. Measurements and photos are taken so the quote reflects the real space, not an estimate from a description.

The visit usually takes under an hour for a single bathroom. You are welcome to ask as many questions as you like, including whether a cheaper option would do.

After the visit

The quote is sent in writing. If it suits, we agree a start date; if not, there is no follow-up pressure. Where a job needs changes after work begins, such as hidden damage behind old tiles, we explain it and agree any change in writing before carrying on.

Why the quote is fixed rather than a day rate

Day-rate pricing leaves the final total open, so any delay or surprise lands on your bill. A fixed quote puts that risk on us, which is why we only give one after seeing the room. It also makes quotes easier to compare: check that each one includes strip-out and waste removal, floor preparation, waterproofing, sealant and any electrical certificate, because those are the lines that low quotes most often leave out.

Our team is fully insured and DBS-checked,, and there are no subcontractors.

Your questions answered

Is the bathroom installation free?

No. The survey and the fixed written quote are free; the installation, products and materials are paid work.

Is there any obligation after the survey?

None. The quote is free and there is no pressure to go ahead.

Does the quote include VAT?

Yes. Our written quotes are fixed and include VAT.

Can you quote from photos alone?

We can give a rough idea, but a fixed price needs the survey so we can check the floor, walls and pipework.
